Carbon Fiber Finishes

"We distinguish a finish as an adhesion-promoting chemistry applied to a fiber surface.  Our finishes improve strength, durability, and aid in corrosion prevention.  An added benefit of our finishes is that they perform like a traditional sizing agent, which  aids in fiber handling."

Adherent sells an exclusive line of fiber finishes that promote composite adhesion.  These finishes can be applied to virtually any type of fiber including but not limited to 

	Carbon
	Glass
	Kevlar

Finishes consist of the proprietary reactive coupling agent in a carrier resin that is selected for compatibility with the eventual matrix resin.  The reactive coupling agent results in covalent bonds to both the fiber and to the matrix resin.  To date, finishes have been formulated to enhance the interfacial properties of composites with the following matrix materials:

	Epoxies
	Bismaleimides
	Phenolics
	Vinyl Esters
	Polyesters
	Polyimides

Other resin systems will be evaluated upon request.
